Sort of easing back into this like a too warm bath. You have likely forgotten what this newsletter is about. My name is Gordon, I used to write about bootcamps. I’m still trying to figure out the form this newsletter will take going forward.
But enough people have asked why I stopped writing that I took that as a nudge to pick this back up again. I’m fairly sure they weren’t just being polite. And if they were, well, it’s too late. Next time, don’t be nice.
For the time being, I’m going to keep things simple. I’m going to write about jobs. Namely, who is hiring and what the job roles really mean. I believe you can’t really tell what’s going on in EdTech from what you read in TechCrunch. But you can tell what’s going on by what roles people are hiring for. It’s that old adage: show don’t tell.
To get specific, I’m going to post about non-technical roles in EdTech across Europe and the US. Not the snappiest of titles but let’s leave branding to another time. Let’s get to it.
Jobs.
(It does exactly what it says on the tin)
Europe
FourthRev is hiring for an Interim Learning Design Manager. The role is UK based and it looks like you’ll be doing a mix of production, project management and learning design.
Colossyan is on the hunt for a Customer Success Manager. The role is hybrid with some travel into London required. The company is “building the future of learning with AI video”. Aren’t we all. Experience required is 2+ years so this is a relatively early-career role. They are also looking for a People & Culture Manager.
FundamentalVR is after a Product Owner in London. You will lead “the vision and development” for their medical VR training simulations. I presume this means the cadavers are fake.
Ironhack (hey, look I haven’t completely stopped writing about bootcamps) is looking for a Curriculum Offer Manager. I had never heard of this job role before. But it turns out it’s what I do. Maybe I don’t know myself. Don’t tug at that thread. Back to Ironhack, you’ll be creating custom learning programs for their B2B business.
LeWagon (seriously with the bootcamps) is hiring for a Head of Learning Solutions in Paris. Like the Ironhack role, you’ll lead the development of custom programmes for clients. They are also after a B2B Learning Solutions Consultant. You’ll need to be based in Paris and speak French and English. Eh bien, cela m'exclut.
NXTLVL (I checked and this isn’t a ‘90s boyband) is after a Head of Learning in London. They would like someone who understands children’s education and has a masters or PhD in education.
USA
Transfr would like a Senior Product Manager for their Career Exploration product. This is the company’s first non-VR product. You’ll be working closely with schools and early users. Salary is $160,000 and $170,000 and they’re looking for 3+ years of experience.
Kyron Learning is hiring for a Solutions Architect in Boston. You will design and implement tailored solutions that meet client needs. The company is at the “intersection of AI and education”. Which I think describes all education companies these days. No job link for this one, if you’re interested shoot over an email to mike@kyronlearning.com.
Challenger university Nexford is looking for a Sales and Partnerships Director. Ideally you’ll be in the DC area but they are open to remote. 5+ years of experience in EdTech sales for this one. Ten percent of your time will be on the road.
Strada is after a Work-Based Learning VP. This is an incredibly detailed job description so don’t worry about reading it unless you have the requisite 5-10 years of experience leading, researching, and/or advocating for work-based learning initiatives in a post-secondary institutional. Whew, try saying that with a mouthful of grapes. Base salary is $170,000 - $210,000 a year if you meet their requirements.
Credo would like a Project Manager of Student Success. Salary is $47,500-$57,500 and they would like it if you are within proximity of an airport as this position requires semi-regular travel around the country. Good for keeping the old air miles topped up.
Workday is looking for a Managing Director for their Higher Education vertical. Fifteen years of experience gets you between $212,000 and $318,000 in today’s marketplace. Writing this newsletter really underscores the different salary expectations between the US and Europe. Hey, at least we get all of August off over here.
Finally, Mursion would like a Senior Engagement Manager to, you guessed it, manage engagements for their Fortune 500 clients. Salary of between $125K-$150K for this one.
Thanks for reading. I would lastly like to point out that any views or comments expressed here are mine and not those of my employer.
Until next time.
Welcome back Gordon!
